Summary

Join ITHAKA's Software Engineering Internship program and gain hands-on experience in a real-world product development environment. As an integral part of a web development team, you will design, develop, and maintain web applications deployed on JSTOR's platform. This 12-week internship, partially funded by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, offers opportunities to Michigan residents or those with ties to the state. You'll contribute to problem-solving, idea generation, and overall team impact, while learning new technologies and working with experienced mentors. ITHAKA provides comprehensive onboarding and support, enabling interns to quickly become productive members of the team. The internship begins June 2, 2025, and applications are due February 7, 2025.

Requirements

  • Actively enrolled in a degree program
  • Knowledge of accessibility, usability, information architecture, and interaction design principles
  • Knowledge of responsive design interfaces
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and React/Vue
  • Familiarity with Webpack, Grunt or other similar build tools
  • Willingness and ability to learn new approaches and emerging technology
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail
  • Have a connection to Michigan (attending a college/university in the state, residing in Michigan, or having personal ties to the area)

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Product Owner, User Experience Designer, and other team members to conduct Product Discovery using various testing methods including high and low fidelity prototypes, and live A/B testing
  • Participate as a member of an agile team leveraging continuous deployment and test automation in order to deploy application changes to production on average more than once per day
  • Implement rich, interactive web applications using the latest technologies, frameworks, and patterns
  • Leverage web analytics as needed to support Product Discovery and to measure project KPIs
  • Test, measure, and optimize performance using Application Performance Management and Web Developer Tools
