Summary

Join ThousandEyes, a Cisco company, for a 12-16 week paid summer internship program. You'll work on a small starter project followed by a larger, cross-functional project, gaining experience in various languages and technologies. Mentorship is a key component of the program, with each intern paired with a mentor for guidance and feedback. The internship is based in the US and offers remote or in-person options in San Francisco, Seattle, or Austin. Successful interns may be considered for full-time positions after graduation. The program is open to those pursuing a technical master's degree or equivalent experience, or those with a software/coding boot camp background and a strong foundation in computer science.

Requirements

  • Be pursuing a technical masters degree or have equivalent experience with a strong foundation in the fundamentals of computer science
  • Be pursuing a software/coding boot camp (or educational training program) and/or technical associates degree with a strong foundation in the fundamentals of computer science
  • Strive to solve complex problems in microservices architecture
  • Be familiar with programming languages like Java or Kotlin
  • Be familiar with front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue
  • Have worked with relational databases or time-series databases like Druid
  • Flourish within a small engineering team and be excited to tackle open-ended problems
  • Be authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
  • Already be living in the San Francisco, CA area

Responsibilities

  • Work on a small starter project, such as integration and implementation of new tools
  • Spend the majority of the program on a larger project, such as building the infrastructure for a new service

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have experience working with JavaScript or Typescript
  • Have experience with Vue.js, AngularJS or ReactJS (we’re currently using Vue)
  • Have experience building large-scale real-time streaming pipelines using Kafka, Druid, or Spark
  • Have knowledge and use of Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud technologies (AWS, GCP)
