Summary
Join AffiniPay, a leading fintech company, as a Software Engineering Manager! You will grow our engineering teams and culture, foster innovation, and champion best practices. This hands-on role involves working with our software and services, building domain expertise in SaaS, Legal-tech, and Fintech, primarily focusing on the MyCase legal practice management software. You'll manage multiple engineering teams, ensuring high software quality, optimizing processes, and collaborating with product and UX teams. Mentoring and coaching engineers, driving technology initiatives, and staying current with industry trends are also key responsibilities. Requirements
- BS in Computer Science or related field
- 7+ years of experience designing, implementing, monitoring, and debugging large-scale solutions in cloud-based environments
- 2+ years of experience managing, mentoring and leading engineering teams
- Experience building and deploying production-grade web applications at scale
- Familiar with LEAN product development and Agile frameworks - Scrum or Kanban
- People management skills
- Have built API
- Expert in Frontend technologies
- Strong understanding of SOLID design principles and design patterns
- Strong understanding with SQL, and familiarity with databases such as Postgres or MySql
- Strong teamwork and documentation skills
Responsibilities
- Develop scalable applications in a modern web application framework (Rails, React, Node, NextJS or equivalent)
- Build modern frontend technologies and libraries (React, Bootstrap CSS, Tailwind)
- Participate in hiring and recruiting to build out engineering teams
- Manage engineers in multiple teams and facilitating strong collaboration
- Ensure high software engineering quality and standards are practiced throughout the software lifecycle
- Actively optimizing engineering processes in order to improve efficiencies
- Strong Product collaboration to proactively consider trade-offs, identify risks to timelines, consider where we can improve as a team in order to deliver business outcomes
- Mentor, onboard and coach software engineers, fostering their professional growth and development
- Collaborate with UX to help design to ship modern web applications with customer usability in mind
- Support software deployments, including debugging, troubleshooting, and coordination with DevOps and QA Engineers
- Collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand requirements, communicate technical solutions, and ensure alignment with business objectives
- Lead team meetings including sprint planning, grooming, and retros, ensuring effective communication and coordination within the team
- Drive technology initiatives within the team and product to maintain application performance, scalability and sustainability
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, continuously learning and evolving your skills to drive innovation and excellence within the team
- Provide technical expertise to the broader engineering group to help drive positive results and outcomes
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with cloud technologies (e.g. AWS, GCE)
- Experience in full-stack web development
- Experience with Ruby on Rails, React, NodeJS, NextJS is a plus
- Experience building Software as a Service (SaaS) applications at scale
- Experience in writing front-end components using React
- Experience managing multiple teams
- Experience managing engineers
- Experience optimizing processes and streamlining development workflows
