Software Engineering Manager

Summary

Join the team as our next Software Engineering Manager on Twilio’s Segment Compute team. As an engineering manager on the Twilio Segment Compute team, you’ll build and scale systems that process hundreds of thousands of data points per second and query petabytes of data to unlock rich capabilities for our customer data platform (CDP). The team you oversee will have a deep understanding of large distributed systems and data processing at scale. You’ll be responsible for managing engineers, leading execution, and guiding the technical decisions of the team to deliver high business impact.

Requirements

• BS in a relevant field or related work experience
• 8+ years of hands-on experience building production grade systems and working with data at scale
• 2+ years of engineering management experience
• The ability to communicate well. You can explain technical concepts to cross-functional stakeholders, other engineers, and support teams
• Have strong familiarity with agile processes, engineering best practices, and believe in automation over toil

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of backend engineers to scale and operate foundational compute systems
• Set the technical vision for your team and be accountable for team plans and deliverables
• Grow and develop a high-performing team of hardworking and motivated engineers
• Ensure your team delivers high output with strong ownership and impact
