Summary

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Special Education
  • Two years experience as a Special Education teacher
  • Valid Utah Special Education teaching license
  • Mild/Moderate Disability Endorsement and/or Severe Disability Endorsement
  • Proficiency in Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Drive)
  • Experience using Zoom, Canvas, and online teaching tools
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Proven experience working with school staff, students, and their families
  • Integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment
  • Advocacy skills and the ability to work with other staff members to achieve LAU’s Standard of Excellence
  • Ability to respond effectively to the needs of diverse students and families
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a digital environment
  • High degree of flexibility with an aggressive growth mindset

Responsibilities

  • Provide Special Education Services: Deliver all services outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEPs), create and lead content classes using Canvas and Zoom, train and support paraeducators, and delegate tasks as needed
  • Coordinate and Schedule Related Services: Secure and schedule related service providers (speech-language therapy, occupational and physical therapy, etc.) for IEP needs
  • Ensure Special Education Compliance: Maintain current and compliant student files, utilize IEP management software, and process confidential files accurately
  • Oversee IEP Meetings: Schedule and lead IEP and eligibility meetings, prepare paperwork, coordinate with teachers and administrators, and communicate with families
  • Attend Special Ed Meetings: Attend required meetings, report student attendance and data, and assist with statewide assessments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in delivering online Special Education services
  • Five years experience as a Special Education teacher
