Sql Database Administrator

Summary

Join our team as a SQL Server Database Administrator for a 100% remote, long-term contract position within the US. You will manage and maintain SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments, focusing on backup and restore, query optimization, logging, monitoring, security, and system upgrades. This role requires expertise in cloud-based databases (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools. You will work with both Windows and Linux environments and collaborate effectively with a team. We offer a W2 with benefits or 1099 employment option (no C2C).

Requirements

• Proven experience as an SQL Server Database Administrator
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server and PostgreSQL
• Expertise in backup and restore strategies, query optimization, and monitoring
• Hands-on experience with cloud-based databases (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Familiarity with authentication and authorization architectures
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like CDK and Terraform
• Experience working with both Windows and GNU/Linux environments
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments
• Manage database backups using native tools and AWS Backup
• Optimize queries
• Handle vendor/shadow database queries
• Implement logging and monitoring solutions
• Integrate security systems
• Design authentication and authorization frameworks
• Oversee RDS and EC2 SQL Server and PostgreSQL upgrades
• Work with both Windows and GNU/Linux environments
• Leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like CDK and Terraform while managing cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications in AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Experience with vendor/shadow database queries
• Knowledge of database security best practices
