Sr. Software Engineer

Summary

Oportun is a digital banking platform that empowers members to reach their financial goals through intelligent borrowing, savings, budgeting, and spending capabilities. The Security Engineer will help Oportun scale by hardening its security internally and externally, advise technical teams on secure development practices, develop tools and features to monitor and improve security stance, and adhere to various compliance standards. They should have experience implementing scanning architectures, with Vulnerability Management solutions, and a deep understanding of application security concerns.

Requirements

• BE or MS in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Security, or Information Systems
• 5 years of security/engineer/technology work experience
• 2 years experience with Linux /Unix operating systems
• At least 1 year working in a software engineering or similar team
• Experience with one or more modern programming/scripting language such as Ruby, Python, Golang, Nodejs, or Java like language
• Experience with Threat Modeling, Risk Assessment, or Design Review
• Working in public clouds like AWS, GCP, or Azure as well as end to end vulnerability management lifecycle
• A deep understanding of application security concerns
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work with other teams within the same company
• 1 year Incident Response experience

• Help Oportun adhere to various compliance standards as it evolves its product and infrastructure
