Summary

The Staff Data Engineer at Headspace will lead the design and development of robust data pipelines, develop a cutting-edge data warehousing platform, collaborate with various teams, and mentor engineers. The role requires 10+ years of experience in architecting and implementing large-scale enterprise data solutions, proficient experience in modern data platforms, demonstrated expertise in designing and optimizing high-volume ETL pipelines, coaching and mentoring skills, excellent communication skills, and an advanced degree or relevant industry experience.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience architecting and implementing large-scale enterprise data solutions
  • 7+ years of proficient experience in modern data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, and Redshift, with a strong understanding of their architectural principles
  • 7+ years of demonstrated expertise in designing and optimizing high-volume, real-time, and batch ETL pipelines
  • 5+ years of experience in coaching and mentoring team members to foster professional growth and development, with a focus on cultivating a growth mindset through constructive feedback and support
  • Proven track record of thriving in fast-paced startup environments, with a self-starting attitude and a passion for driving impactful change
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with a demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of robust data pipelines to ingest, aggregate, and index diverse data sources into our organization's data lake
  • Spearhead the development of a cutting-edge data warehousing platform, ensuring it meets stringent security and compliance requirements
  • Collaborate closely with the data analytics team to ensure the data platform effectively supports reporting and analysis of key business metrics
  • Partner with the data science and machine learning team to build scalable capabilities for rapid experimentation and insight generation
  • Mentor and coach engineers on the data team, fostering a culture of data excellence and innovation throughout the organization

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field
