Summary
Join the Grafana DataViz squad as a Staff Software Engineer and take a leadership role in developing and enhancing panel visualizations. This remote position, open to applicants in the Canadian Eastern time zones, focuses on performance, maintainability, and extensibility. You will collaborate with team members, stakeholders, and the OSS community, mentoring others and contributing to roadmap decisions. Responsibilities include writing design documents, participating in on-call rotations, providing technical support, and working with other Grafana squads. The ideal candidate possesses strong frontend engineering experience, understands data visualization and transformation, and is passionate about observability and the Grafana community.
Requirements
- Be comfortable working in a remote-first company and understand the importance of communication. The ability to clearly communicate in English (both written and verbal) is critical
- Enjoy working as a team. For us, working together means being collaborative, friendly, kind, and respectful
- Be interested in data visualisation and transformation and have solid professional experience as a Frontend Engineer
- Take responsibility for operating the software you have built. You are open to joining our on-call rotations and have experience supporting software in production, ensuring reliability and responding to incidents as needed
- Easily build an understanding of the userβs context and goals which will help you build the simplest solution that brings the biggest value to them
- Know how to transform ideas into working code β you are able to design a solution, get feedback, and deliver large projects
- Be a self-driven individual who understands the power of feedback loops in making roadmap decisions and driving our product forward
- Enjoy working on complex solutions β Grafana is a highly technological solution and has avid followers who rely on it every day and care deeply about their workflows
- Have an active interest in observability (Metrics, Logs and Traces) and have experience with tools like Grafana, Prometheus, or other observability platforms
- Enjoy learning, growing, and supporting others to do the same
- Appreciate efficiency and strive to identify and utilize the most effective tools for the task at hand. You naturally share your use of these tools with your team to maintain transparency and growth

Responsibilities
- Take an active role in influencing our roadmap by engaging with internal stakeholders, customers and the OSS community
- Mentor and support other team members, participating in product and process discussions and collaborating with the team
- Take ownership of your career and growth and working with your manager to identify relevant opportunities
- Write clear design documents for upcoming solutions and reviewing those from others
- Participate in your teamβs on-call rotations, supporting the operations and reliability of the solutions we build
- Provide technical support in customer escalations and helping us identify areas of high friction to address
- Work closely with the other squads in the Grafana Department
