Staff Frontend Engineer

Summary

Join Maze, a Series B-funded startup, as a Senior Frontend Engineer on the Developer Experience team. This hands-on role involves architecting and evolving frontend infrastructure, collaborating with designers and engineers, leading the adoption of best practices, and building and maintaining the design system. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, advocating for frontend excellence and improving both developer and user experience. The ideal candidate possesses proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and CSS, along with experience in design systems and accessibility. Requirements

• Proficiency with JavaScript, TypeScript, and a solid knowledge of CSS, React and frontend architecture
• Experience with design systems and accessibility best practices
• Passion for writing maintainable and scalable code that improves both the developer and user experience
• Experience with frontend testing and a desire to create well-tested code
• Ability to thrive in a remote environment and have excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
• Enjoyment collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to build better solutions

Responsibilities

• Architect and evolve frontend infrastructure that enables scalable, maintainable, and accessible web applications, focusing on foundational components and tooling rather than individual product features
• Collaborate with designers and engineers to build, ship, and maintain new frontend features, with a focus on UI/UX consistency and accessibility
• Lead the adoption of best practices for frontend architecture, state management, data fetching, and testing
• Evangelize and manage initiatives to improve frontend practices, reducing complexity, and drive high-quality standards as best practices across teams
• Build and maintain our design system, ensuring consistency across platforms and easing cross-team collaboration
• Review code, offer constructive feedback, and welcome feedback to grow continuously

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Next.js, Redux, GraphQL and Apollo client
• Knowledge of backend technologies (e.g., Node, Nest, AWS Services)
• Interest or experience in UX/UI design and the user research field
• A sense of initiative and a great sense of humor to bring to the team!
