Staff Product Designer

Join us at Cruise, a self-driving service designed for the cities we love. As a Staff Product Designer, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the user experience and ensuring the safety and success of our driverless operation and ridehail service.

Requirements

• Proven experience in product design, UX design, or a related field, ideally within a tech or consumer-focused company
• Strong understanding of user experience design principles and product development processes
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills
• Ability to work on strategic and systems-level projects, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for creating engaging user experiences
• Familiarity with tools such as Jira and Figma, and experience working within agile development environments

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of complex user experiences for both consumer and fleet management tools
• Drive the end-to-end design process, from research and conceptualization to prototyping and implementation
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product management, and operations to gather requirements, define user needs, and ensure alignment with business goals
• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of user personas and operational workflows
• Proactively identify new areas of opportunity and influence product strategy
• Champion innovative solutions, even in ambiguous or unprecedented contexts
• Mentor and guide other designers, setting a high standard of craftsmanship for design
• Enhance the interaction between autonomous vehicles and the community, ensuring safe and effective communication and behavior on the road

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in developing design systems and ensuring consistency across products
• Ability to navigate complex problem spaces and deliver high-quality design solutions
