Summary
Join Airbnb's Metric Infrastructure team and build cutting-edge infrastructure to solve semantic layer problems, primarily focusing on the MinervaSQL server. You will research industry techniques, collaborate with teams to improve data querying, and participate in all phases of software development. This role requires 9+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, expertise in modern programming languages, and a deep understanding of OOP and API design patterns. The position is US-remote eligible, with occasional office work or offsites. Compensation includes a base pay range of $204,000-$255,000 USD, bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
Requirements
- 9+ years in a hands-on software engineering role, shipping high quality code to production
- Experience with at least one modern, general programming language
- Experience at the boundary between data engineering and software engineering
- Experience with a data platform with multiple abstraction or semantic layers
- A deep understanding of OOP and API design patterns
- Experience working closely with other engineering teams across complex interfaces
- Strong communication skills and a track record of leading projects across teams
Responsibilities
- Build and extend the capabilities of our MinervaSQL query rewriting service
- Research the latest semantic layer techniques and database engine features to determine what Minervaβs priorities should be
- Partner with teams across the company to improve the impact of metric infrastructure, especially by making it easier to query data
- Participate in all phases of software development from architecture/design through implementation, testing, and on-call
