Staff Software Engineer

Summary

Join Imply's Applications team as a backend specialist and contribute to building customer-facing applications using Apache Druid. You will implement and maintain micro-services, develop state-of-the-art features within Apache Druid, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver major initiatives. The role requires experience in Java, Kubernetes, cloud providers, and relational/OLAP databases. Requirements

• 5+ years experience building and maintaining highly scalable and reliable services in Java or a similar language
• Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, cloud providers such as AWS, and/or related technologies
• Experience using relational and/or OLAP databases
• Experience with agile methodologies
• Strong communication and coordination skills

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain micro-services and backend software components in modern Java
• Develop and maintain state-of-the-art features within Apache Druid
• Lead in the design and development of major features across teams
• Coordinate directly with PM, UX design, frontend engineers, and backend engineers to successfully deliver major initiatives, new features, and products
• Be on-call for production issues (2 weeks per cycle, 4-6 times per year)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using Apache Druid
• Open source contributions to Apache Druid or other open source database
• Experience using streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka and Apache Flink
