Summary

As a Staff Systems Engineer at EasyPost, you will design, implement, and maintain infrastructure and core services to ensure reliability, scalability, and performance. You will provide technical leadership, automate processes, optimize system performance, and ensure the scalability and reliability of applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 12+ years of related experience, masterโ€™s degree and 8+ years of related experience, or equivalent related work experience
  • Strong proficiency in coding and scripting languages, with a focus on Python
  • Deep understanding of DevOps & SRE principles, practices, and methodologies
  • Proven experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP (IBM a plus)
  • Proficiency in IaC tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation
  • Proficiency with automation tools like Ansible and Puppet
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK Stack
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Kubernetes
  • Experience with host-based traffic management services (haproxy, nginx)
  • Experience with event streaming platforms such as kafka

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage complex infrastructure and application services that ensure reliability, scalability, and performance
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers
  • Implement automated solutions for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment using industry-leading tools and best practices
  • Utilize Python programming skills to develop and maintain customized tools and scripts for monitoring, logging, and workflow automation
  • Drive opportunities for shifting from proprietary to industry standard tools
  • Design patterns for self-service consumption of infrastructure by Engineering
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes to ensure the reliability and availability of our systems and services
  • Mentor the team on change management and incident response
  • Conduct post mortems and implement improvements to prevent recurrence
  • Optimize service performance through capacity planning, resource utilization analysis, and infrastructure tuning
  • Work with colleagues to ensure the integrity, availability, and security of our infrastructure and services, both on-prem and in the Cloud
  • Stay current on industry regulations and standards, ensuring compliance with data protection and privacy laws
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive alignment on best practices and standards for infrastructure and operations

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
