Summary

Join Torc Robotics, Inc. as a Staff Systems Engineer, a fully remote position based anywhere in the U.S., with up to 10% domestic and international travel. You will provide technical and functional expertise across teams, ensuring products meet functional safety standards. Lead and coordinate safety standards implementation, setting up safety and cybersecurity plans, and tracking related activities. Work closely with engineers to implement ISO 26262, ISO 21448, and ISO 21434 standards. Lead safety-relevant process and methods development, facilitate reviews, and create work products. Conduct safety and cybersecurity audits, assessments, and develop action plans. Provide training and identify gaps related to ISO standards. Collaborate on system design and architecture development for autonomous trucking. This role requires a deep understanding of functional safety and cybersecurity in the automotive or related industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering field and 5 years of experience in engineering
  • Master’s Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering field and 3 years of experience in engineering
  • Must have experience with: automotive, heavy-duty truck, or aerospace industry products; application of ISO 26262; and systems engineering

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and functional expertise across multi-disciplinary teams and is responsible to ensure Torc’s products meet appropriate functional safety standards
  • Lead & co-ordinate activities associated with implementation of safety standards
  • Set-up safety & Cyber Security plan
  • Track and monitor FuSa/SOTIF/Cyber Security activities
  • Work closely with the engineers to ensure ISO 26262, ISO21448 & ISO21434 (Functional Safety, SOTIF & Cyber Security) standards are implemented
  • Lead safety relevant process and methods development based on standards
  • Facilitate and create work products, such as item definition, DIA, TARA, FSC, TSC, etc
  • Facilitate and attend process and technical reviews
  • Set-up DIA and align with development partners
  • Lead safety & Cyber audit, assessment and prepare action plan based on assessment report
  • Support team with providing training to increasing engineering knowledge of ISO 26262, ISO21448 & ISO21434
  • Identify gaps related to ISO 26262 (Functional Safety), ISO 21448 (Safety of the Intended Function) & ISO 21434 and communicate to management
  • Support the development of cyber security requirements for autonomous trucks
  • Collaborate with system design and architecture development teams on specification development for our Autonomous Trucking program
