Staff Systems Engineer, Integrations and Automation

Summary
Join Reddit's Corporate Engineering team as a Systems Engineer specializing in AI. You will be responsible for integrating Generative AI tools, establishing governance and security policies, and ensuring seamless connectivity between platforms. This role involves designing and implementing processes and policies around Generative AI within the software stack, balancing risk with business enablement. You will provide technical guidance and support to teams using Gen AI solutions, troubleshoot data issues, and implement automation tools. You will also mentor junior engineers and collaborate with various teams to achieve technical and strategic goals. This is a 100% remote position open to candidates authorized to work in the United States.
Requirements
- 7+ years in an IT Engineering, Security, Data Engineering, or IT Systems Administration role within a corporate setting
- Experience building and deploying your own Generative AI and LLM-backed tools
- Proven ability to design and implement microservices, manage APIs, and build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), all while adhering to industry-standard testing methods
- Ability to plan, drive, and support multiple simultaneous projects and initiatives
- Solid understanding of identity and access management (IAM) concepts and protocols (e.g., SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect)
- Hands-on experience with Okta or similar identity providers, including user provisioning, authentication, and authorization
- Experience with automation tools and scripting languages for automating user lifecycle management and other integration tasks
- Experience collaborating with Information Security teams to ensure secure integration practices
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a knack for mentoring and guiding junior engineers
- Experience communicating with third-party vendors to manage expectations and relationships
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and a collaborative mindset, effectively driving technical and strategic goals across different teams
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation that includes after-hours and weekend support
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain third-party software integrations within the core internal tech stack (including SSO, provisioning, and other API-based data integrations), specifically around touch points for data integrations and Generative AI tools
- Create and implement governance policies for introducing and integrating Generative AI tools with the internal tech stack
- Assess and provide technical guidance and support to teams looking to procure new software or leverage existing tools at Reddit
- Collaborate closely with Security Engineering, Legal, Privacy, and Support teams when evaluating software and during technical design phases
- Find and implement internal process and automation enhancements
- Serve as an escalation point for the global Corporate Engineering support operations team
- Help grow and mentor the global Corporate Engineering team
- Independently own and drive multiple projects and deliverables for the team
- Take part in evaluating, recruiting, hiring, and developing team members
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) and Security Orchestration Automation and Response tooling
- Familiarity with data privacy regulations and responsible AI practices
- Expertise in prompt design and engineering, including a deep understanding of various prompting techniques
- Experience with Sailpoint Identity Now platform
- Experience with cloud infrastructure providers (e.g. AWS, GCP)
