Summary

Join the Leadership Academy of Utah (LAU) as a part-time, remote RTI Specialist! This position, based in Utah (preference given to Utah residents), runs from August 1, 2025, to May 22, 2026, and involves flexible scheduling between 8 am and 4 pm, Mountain Time. You will provide support to students needing special assistance, teaching approved curriculum, conducting assessments, and collecting data. Responsibilities include instructing students, attending weekly meetings, and collaborating with the Student Support Team. The ideal candidate possesses teaching experience, advocacy skills, and excellent communication and computer skills. Compensation is $18.65/hour for 20-25 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience tutoring, teaching, working as a teacherโ€™s assistant, or similar experience OR an Associates degree and one year of experience tutoring, teaching, working as a teacherโ€™s assistant, or similar experience
  • Computer experience, especially G-Suite
  • Proven work experience with educational staff, students, and their families
  • Proven integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment
  • Authorization to work in the United States and the ability to pass a background check

Responsibilities

  • Organize identified students who require special support into classes and teach approved curriculum
  • Complete necessary assessments at the beginning and throughout the support process
  • Collect data throughout the RTI process
  • Conduct the exit assessment at the end of each 6-week course
  • RTI classes may include: The 6-Week Rewards reading program, The Step-Up to Writing Program, IXL Math and Language Arts, Math Essential mini-courses, or Executive Functioning
  • Communicate with parents, students, and teachers
  • Serve as a Special Education substitute when needed
  • Report on student progress and collaborate with the Student Support Team
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some teaching experience
  • Advocacy skills and the ability to work with other staff members to achieve overall vision for school
  • Ability to respond effectively to the needs of diverse students and families
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills with the ability to adapt and learn various state systems, programs, and processes
