System Administrator

Summary

The System Administrator at BAO Systems will manage Linux systems, AWS cloud infrastructure, DevOps processes, and the DHIS 2 application. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, 3 years of relevant experience, proficiency in scripting and automation, and familiarity with AWS services, DevOps tools, and security practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 3 years of relevant work experience
• Proven experience as a System Administrator with expertise in Linux environments
• Strong experience with AWS cloud services, including EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, and VPC
• Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices, including CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure as code
• Experience with security practices, including vulnerability scanning, patch management, and incident response

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, and maintain Linux servers to ensure system stability, performance, and security
• Manage AWS cloud infrastructure, including provisioning, monitoring, and scaling resources as needed
• Implement and maintain DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Git, and Ansible
• Perform regular security scans and assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and implement appropriate security measures to safeguard systems and data
• Manage and support the DHIS 2 application, ensuring its availability, performance, and security
• Automate routine tasks using scripting languages such as Bash or Python
• Monitor system health and performance using monitoring tools and respond to incidents and outages effectively
• Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to improve system reliability and implement best practices
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, processes, and security practices
• Provide technical support and guidance to other team members and stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in AWS, Linux, or Security
• Experience in the healthcare or non-profit sector, particularly with DHIS 2 implementations, is a benefit but not required
• Knowledge of container technologies such as Docker
