Summary
Join Maxwell Locke & Ritter LLP, a top-ranked accounting firm in Austin, as a Tax Manager! This role offers in-person, hybrid, or remote options (excluding NY, CA, MI, and MT). Lead client tax engagements from start to finish, managing deadlines, requirements, and billing. Mentor junior associates and enjoy opportunities for professional development. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of relevant tax experience at a public accounting firm, strong technical skills, and excellent communication abilities. CPA certification is required.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant tax experience at a public accounting firm (preferably a Big 4, national, regional, or large local firm) serving business entities and their owners, and consulting and compliance experience working with multi-state business entities
- CPA certification
- Excellent research skills
- Strong written and verbal communications and people skills
- Excellent technology, project management and presentation skills
Responsibilities
- Lead client tax engagements from start to finish
- Utilize prior technical experience to help clients navigate their tax compliance requirements
- Lead the consulting and planning process
- Manage the client’s tax deadlines
- Manage filing requirements
- Analyze billing/collections related to the client engagement
- Coach and mentor junior associates
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in taxation
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: Complex partnership allocations, including those related to Preferred returns, carried interests or similar waterfall scenarios
- ��704(c) property
- ��704(b) revaluation adjustments
- ��754 elections and related §734 and §743 basis adjustments
- Real estate industry issues, including like-kind exchanges and other gain deferral strategies
- Investment fund partnerships
- Business acquisitions and sales
- FASB ASC 740
- U.S. Tax aspects of doing business internationally
