Summary

Join our team as a fully remote Tax Manager specializing in trust and estate tax compliance and planning! Manage complex trust and estate tax filings, advise high-net-worth clients on estate planning, and ensure compliance with all federal and state tax regulations. You will need deep understanding of fiduciary accounting, estate and gift taxation, and the ability to develop proactive strategies. Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing various tax forms, managing client portfolios, providing strategic tax planning, collaborating with other professionals, supervising junior staff, staying current on tax law, and supporting business development. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required, along with 5–7 years of relevant experience. Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in public accounting or law firm tax department, with a focus on trusts and estates
  • Strong working knowledge of federal and state fiduciary tax law, estate planning strategies, and probate processes
  • Expertise in fiduciary accounting and trust taxation
  • Experience with tax preparation software (e.g., CCH Axcess, GoSystem, or similar)
  • Excellent communication, client service, and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review Form 1041 (U.S. Income Tax Return for Estates and Trusts) , Form 706 (Estate Tax Return) , Form 709 (Gift Tax Return) , and relevant state filings
  • Manage a portfolio of trust and estate clients, ensuring timely and accurate tax compliance
  • Provide strategic tax planning related to wealth transfer, charitable giving, generation-skipping transfer (GST) tax , and asset protection
  • Collaborate with attorneys, financial advisors, and fiduciaries on estate and trust administration
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff in the preparation and review of trust and estate tax returns
  • Stay up to date on developments in estate and trust tax law and advise clients accordingly
  • Respond to IRS and state tax notices; assist with audits and tax controversy matters as needed
  • Support business development through client meetings, proposal development, and networking

Preferred Qualifications

JD, CPA, or LLM in Taxation

Benefits

  • $180,000 - $220,000 a year
