Teacher Assistant, Student Advisor

Summary

Join CCRES as a Part-Time Teacher Assistant (Student Advisor) and make a difference in the lives of students enrolled in the Philadelphia Virtual Academy (PVA) program. As the primary point of contact for students and parents, you will help them understand the program and navigate the PVA system. This remote position requires bilingual fluency in Spanish (with Russian or Chinese preferred) and involves communicating with students and parents, managing student caseloads, monitoring progress, and providing academic support. The position is part-time (12:00 PM – 4:00 PM) and runs through the 2024-2025 school year. The pay rate is $22.00 per hour, supporting students from K-12th grade. Paid credentials and benefits are offered for those working 30+ hours per week.

Requirements

• Have knowledge of web-based programs and apps
• Possess excellent customer service skills
• Be able to effectively communicate (oral and written)
• Have strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
• Be able to adapt to organizational, system and developmental changes with assistance from supervisor and/or colleagues
• Be bilingual in Spanish (or Russian or Chinese)
• Hold a Bachelor's Degree in education or related field
• Have excellent customer service and communication skills
• Have good organizational skills
• Possess strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Obtain PA Child Abuse (Act 151) Clearance
• Obtain PA Criminal (Act 34) Clearance
• Obtain PA Department of Education FBI Clearance -- Use code 1KG6XN
• Obtain TB Screening -- current within 3 months
• Provide Education Documentation - diploma OR official transcripts from graduate program

Responsibilities

• Be the primary point of contact for students enrolled in the Philadelphia Virtual Academy (PVA) program
• Communicate with students and parents to help them understand the program and navigate the PVA system
• Manage a student caseload, monitor progress, and provide 1:1 or small-group academic support to students as needed
• Complete translation projects as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

• Have experience as an instructional assistant or teacher
• Have experience troubleshooting computer- and technology-related issues
