Requirements

  • At least 3 years of oncology nursing experience with 2 years of telephonic triage nursing in an outpatient setting
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Compact, unrestricted registered nurse (RN) license
  • Willingness to obtain additional state licenses

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-point clinical support to members
  • Evaluate urgent and emergent health concerns related to adverse treatment effects, oncologic disease, and comorbid conditions
  • Offer guidance and connect members with appropriate healthcare services and resources
  • Ensure continuity of care through communication with internal and external clinicians
  • Conduct symptom assessments guided by high-quality, clinical decision-making informed by tools such as the ONS Telephonic Triage protocols
  • Work primarily via telephonic interaction with members
  • Monitor inbound escalation queue and respond immediately to members requiring assistance
  • Document assessment in internal case management platform and EHRs of external provider team
  • Report to Nurse Team Lead and be supported by a team of Nurse Practitioners and Medical Directors
  • Assist with other administrative projects as needed
  • Complete training and learn Thyme Care systems, tools, technology, partners, and expectations
  • Work closely and collaboratively with Nurse leaders, Nurse Practitioners, and Medical Directors
  • Respond promptly to inbound calls from members, assessing their symptoms and urgency of clinical needs, meeting expectations of immediate assistance for members
  • Utilize oncology-specific knowledge to provide expert advice and guide members on their next steps in care
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers to schedule urgent appointments, ensuring timely medical attention
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay abreast of the latest developments in oncology care
  • Build trusting relationships with members, where listening and empathy are the foundation for every interaction
  • Follow Care Team policies and procedures, escalation pathways, communications best practices, and documentation standards
  • Make clinically appropriate decisions rooted in evidence-based medicine and standard triage protocols
  • Partner with other Care Team members to surface the member’s social determinants of health and longer-term clinical needs that may be identified during a triage call

Preferred Qualifications

  • Oncology-related certifications like Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN), Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse (AOCN), Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Specialist (AOCNS), or Certified Case Manager (CCM)
  • Skill in juggling multiple tasks and working under pressure without sacrificing organization in communications and documentation
  • Ability to build rapport and great working relationships with members and colleagues
  • Proven track record of success within scaling businesses, fast-paced environments, and/or startups, and thrive in ambiguity
  • Understanding that rapid business changes are par for the course
  • Experience with video chatting, Google Suite, Slack, electronic health records, and a willingness to learn new technology

Benefits

  • $83,000 annually ($39.90/hr) pay rate
  • 2:30 pm-11 pm ET shift
  • Compensation for up to 2 holidays per year at 1x and 1.5x hourly rates
  • COVID-19 vaccination required (subject to exemptions)
