Summary

Join Orchard as a Senior Mortgage Underwriter and ensure loans meet GSE and internal requirements, working efficiently while maintaining quality and communication. Review conventional mortgages, communicate loan decisions, and meet manager-approved turn times. Maintain underwriting guidelines knowledge, mentor loan processors, and provide support on special projects. This full-time remote position requires 5+ years of conventional mortgage underwriting experience, 2+ years underwriting appraisals and self-employed borrowers, and a DE from FHA and SARS with VA. Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills are essential. The position offers the opportunity to work remotely in various locations.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience underwriting conventional 1st mortgage loans
• 2+ years of underwriting appraisals
• 2+ years of underwriting Self Employed borrowers using a cash flow analysis
• A DE from FHA and SARS with VA is required
• Ability to manage and monitor your loan pipeline while working independently
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and collaboration skills
• Ability to quickly learn new technology systems, and provide critical feedback
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in relating to internal and external clients
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high production environment

Responsibilities

• Review Conventional Mortgage and clearly communicate the loan decisions and/or requirements to all parties
• Maintain manager approved turn times on mortgage applications, while being able to prioritize urgent files that are at risk of missing key loan milestones
• Maintain working knowledge of underwriting guidelines and mortgage compliance, while staying current on all GSE updates
• Act as a mentor and coach to our Loan Processors, and provide working solutions to our Loan Officers to improve file quality and salability
• Provide administrative support to the underwriting department on special projects or product development, as needed
• Foster a team environment that is in line with Orchard Values and Culture

Experience working with Google Suites is helpful
