Join GoDaddy's leadership team as the VP of Global Production Engineering. This senior role involves driving the strategic direction and execution of GoDaddy's self-hosted infrastructure and global technical operations. You will oversee the design, deployment, and management of scalable, high-performance private cloud systems, ensuring 24x7 service reliability. The position requires a strong technical leader with extensive operational experience managing service provider scale mission-critical platforms. You will collaborate with other senior technology leaders, engineers, and business leaders. This role offers the opportunity to implement industry-leading infrastructure and DevOps practices, enabling GoDaddy's growth and innovation. The position may be hybrid or fully remote.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in infrastructure management, DevOps, cloud computing, and related technical leadership roles
- Expertise in managing and scaling self-hosted and third-party cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc). Deep familiarity with Linux and open-source platforms, Microsoft server technologies, OpenStack, container technologies, service provider class global networks, infrastructure-as-code, and automations technologies (eg. Ansible, SALT, & Puppet)
- Proven experience in designing and operating enterprise-level infrastructure, and creating high-availability, fault-tolerant systems
- Experience working with security standards, compliance regulations, and managing risk in a diverse and high-paced 24 x 7 environment
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with a passion for developing high impact and self-managing organizations
- Strong problem-solving to quickly drive decisive operational decisions and analytical background to make strategic decisions and deliver business results
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior leadership, stakeholders, and technical teams across a global company
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a unified strategy for infrastructure and operations from our self-managed data centers to our 24x7 global operations
- Collaborate with senior leaders to define the technology vision and roadmap, aligning infrastructure and DevOps initiatives with business goals
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence across teams
- Drive development and execution of secure, scalable, highly available, and resilient infrastructure that support GoDaddy’s global hosting products
- Collaborate on the management and optimization of GoDaddy’s third party cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, etc.), ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and security
- Oversee the implementation of DevOps practices across the organization, creating integrations between development, testing, deployment, and operational processes
- Drive the use of modern tools and methodologies such as CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), private cloud virtualization, and containerization, to improve delivery speed, quality, and security
- Foster a collaborative environment between development, operations, and security teams to drive to improve service reliability
- Ensure infrastructure and DevOps teams implement comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and automated remediation practices to ensure security, uptime, performance, and cost efficiency
- Establish and maintain disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity processes for core self-hosted platforms
- Operationalize efforts to ensure security best practices & standards are implemented across self-hosted infrastructure services
- Build and scale high-performing teams by attracting, mentoring, and retaining top talent in infrastructure, DevOps, and cloud engineering
- Provide leadership and direction for career development and performance management within the Infrastructure and DevOps teams
- Effectively manage significant budget with a focus on the deployment of capital for optimal business outcomes
- Oversee relationships with external vendors and organizations for cloud services, infrastructure, tools, and practices ensuring that partnerships align with GoDaddy’s strategic business goals
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent industry experience, in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; master’s degree or relevant certifications is a plus
