Join UpGuard as our VP of Engineering and lead our engineering team into the next phase of growth. Reporting to the CPO, you will own the strategic direction, execution, and performance of the engineering organization. You will build and maintain high-performing engineering teams, ensuring scalable, reliable, and secure technology delivery. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve strategic alignment and customer-centric delivery. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to building a thriving engineering culture. Requirements
- Prior leadership experience in a scale-up tech company
- Experience in product-forward organizations with strong product engineering practices
- Strong foundational software engineering capability
- Exceptional people management, coaching, and mentoring capability
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in enterprise B2B environments
Responsibilities
- Set and execute a scalable engineering strategy, aligning technical roadmaps with product vision and business goals
- Build and maintain high-performing engineering teams, emphasizing accountability, innovation, and value deliveryโall in alignment with UpGuard's unique culture
- Ensure technology platforms scale sustainably, reliably, and securely to meet current and future business needs
- Optimize engineering processes, structures, and resource allocation to support a scaling team and align with company strategy and product priorities
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment, unified execution, and customer-centric delivery
- Own hiring strategy, attract high-caliber engineering talent, and cultivate a compelling employer brand to support organizational growth
- Continuously evolve the engineering organization structure and processes to effectively manage increased scale and complexity
Preferred Qualifications
- A background or familiarity with cybersecurity
- Exposure or experience with AI, machine learning, and/or research-oriented engineering
- Prior experience within Big Tech or similarly sophisticated technical environments
