Summary

Join Aequilibrium, a leading Canadian technology company, as a part-time contract WordPress Developer. This role focuses on maintaining, updating, and troubleshooting existing WordPress websites, not building new ones. You will be responsible for handling daily issues, plugin updates, performance checks, bug fixes, and minor content changes. The position is fully remote, with preference given to Canadian candidates. The hourly rate is between $45 and $60 CAD, depending on experience and location. This contract position offers the potential to become permanent.

Requirements

  • Solid experience working with WordPress (core, themes, plugins)
  • Proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Familiarity with cPanel, FTP, and common hosting environments
  • Experience with security and backup tools (e.g., Wordfence, UpdraftPlus)
  • Ability to troubleshoot plugin conflicts and resolve website errors
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Comfortable working independently and responding quickly to issues

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain existing WordPress websites
  • Develop and optimize responsive designs to ensure a seamless display and user experience across various devices (desktop, tablet, mobile)
  • Perform regular updates of WordPress core, themes, and plugins
  • Troubleshoot and fix site issues including layout problems, plugin conflicts, or performance lags
  • Ensure backups, security patches, and uptime are consistently maintained
  • Optimize websites for speed and performance
  • Provide technical support for internal teams or clients regarding website-related issues
  • Document fixes and maintain a change log

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with staging environments and version control (e.g., Git)
  • Knowledge of SEO basics and best practices
  • Familiarity with page builders like Elementor or WPBakery
  • Basic knowledge of Google Analytics, Tag Manager, or Search Console
