Summary
Join our team as a WordPress Development Lead and leverage your expertise to lead and mentor a team of developers. You will be responsible for overseeing projects, ensuring effective communication, and delivering high-quality WordPress solutions. This role requires hands-on development experience, strong technical skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. You will collaborate with the team, clients, and management to build and maintain websites, ensuring scalability, performance, and security. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in WordPress development, team leadership, and a passion for staying up-to-date with the latest technologies. This is a remote position based in the Philippines.
Requirements
- Have proven 5+ years hands-on experience as a WordPress developer using custom built themes, including multisite configuration, custom themes, plugins, ACF, and Gutenberg editor
- Have 3+ years work experience leading a development team
- Have worked on at least 5 WordPress websites in the past, links to sample works or portfolio will be requested
- Possess strong understanding of WordPress security best practices and performance optimization techniques
- Proven expertise in the Agile methodology
- Have bachelor's degree in Computer Science or any related field
- Be adept on CSS animations and have a portfolio of production websites with CSS animations
- Know the basics of WordPress Template Hierarchy
- Be proficient in front-end technologies including SASS, CSS3, JavaScript, HTML5, jQuery
- Be proficient in backend developments such as WordPress, PHP, MySQL, API integrations, JSON, and XML
- Be proficient in CSS Frameworks such as Bootstrap, Foundation, or TailwindCSS
- Be experienced in GIT workflows and code versioning tools such as Git, Github or Gitlab
- Have basic knowledge of Web Apps for site maintenance such Google Analytics and Tag Manager
- Be adept in using SEO Figma, WPEngine, and various web compliance standards
- Have experience with build tools such as Grunt, Gulp, or Webpack
- Have good experience working with debugging tools such as Chrome Inspector and Firebug
- Have good understanding of website architecture and aesthetics
- Exhibit a strong understanding of current web development standards, protocols, and processes
- Be able to document and create user guide(s) for various websites using an existing template/format
- Have demonstrated experience in conducting website performance tests, monitoring metrics, and implementing optimizations
- Be familiar with testing frameworks and methodologies to validate software functionality, security, and performance within WordPress environments
- Have excellent time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in parallel
- Have experience with responsive and adaptive design principles
- Have high attention to detail
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Able to learn and keep up-to-date with the latest trends in web development, WordPress, and emerging technologies
- Be process-oriented, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Have a fully functional and up-to-date computer with which to perform duties
- Be willing to install next-generation endpoint protection on the computer
- Be willing to undergo character reference check and submit documents for application processing
- Be a current resident of the Philippines and legally able to perform work from there
- Be willing to work in US Pacific business hours (8am-5pm PST which corresponds to 11pm-8am PH time, if DST)
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of developers, promoting collaboration and ensuring effective execution of projects to ensure deadlines are met
- Act as the main communication point between the development team, management, and clients, ensuring a clear understanding of project goals and consistent updates on progress
- Solve problems and resolve conflicts when needed
- Build web applications using custom WordPress themes and plugins and applying web development best practices
- Transform app designs into front-end code with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Create an immersive experience for the user using micro animations while maintaining excellent Lightspeed performance scores
- Write high-quality, scalable, and reusable code
- Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical requirements or UX design
- Create the website architecture (WordPress Dashboard, using but not limited to ACF, Gutenberg blocks)
- Design and manage the website back-end including database and server integration
- Maintain the platform's WordPress core while building customizable solutions that meet business needs
- Debug errors, troubleshoot issues, and perform routine performance optimizations
- Conduct code reviews to ensure consistency, quality, and adherence to best practices in WordPress development
- Work with a team to integrate UI components with APIs and databases
- Manage the on-site search engine optimization (Yoast SEO)
- Integrate data from various front/back-end services and databases using REST-API
- Navigate and utilize the WPEngine dashboard (including but not limited to updating, hosting and domain setup/integration)
- Monitor the performance of the live website (using tools such as Page Speed Insights, GTMetrix, and other related tools)
- Collaborate with the development team to develop and maintain the website(s)
- Create and integrate quality assurance tests to ensure website success and security
- Conduct WordPress training with the client (when needed)
- Stay plugged into emerging technologies and industry trends
- Attend regular meetings/check-ins with the dev team, project managers and business stakeholders
- Perform other ad hoc duties related to the role as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- Have knowledge of JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, AlpineJS, and Vue
- Has experience in Webflow
- Have proficiency in Sketch and Invision
- Had developed using other tools and platforms: WooCommerce, Shopify, Pardot, and Hubspot
