Requirements

• Knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards, state safety statutes and local municipal regulation
• Ability to anticipate and mitigate potential issues
• Organization, planning and priority setting skills
• Accurate and clear communications (oral and written)
• Strong analysis and assessment skills
• Investigation and documentation skills
• Time management with sense of urgency for time critical issues
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Microsoft Office programs to include, but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Fluency in Spanish
• Safety and workers compensation background
• 2-4 years direct experience managing workers compensation claims
• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Risk Management-related field or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Comply with federal, state and local legal requirements by being knowledgeable of existing and new legislation, ensuring adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions
• Ensure workers’ compensation claims are responded to timely and accurately
• Approve claim settlements within authority level
• Respond to requests from carrier to increase reserves, conduct surveillance and assign Nurse Case Management to improve outcome
• Communicate actively with field, HR, and Legal to facilitate the timely and accurate processing and closures of workers’ compensation claims
• Review open claims with field managers and carrier
• Attend quarterly claims reviews with carrier
• Facilitate communication between legal team, manager, carrier and/or state agency, as needed
• Analyze, trend, and reduce the occurrence and cost of work-related injury claims; identify trends and help create tactics to mitigate future liability
• Execute and maintain OSHA-related regulatory programs and documentation
• Review accident investigations, injuries, and OSHA logs
