Summary

Join Active Minds' Youth Leadership Internship program and support the organization's youth leadership initiatives, focusing on the Mental Health Advocacy Institute for college students and K-12 programs. As a Youth Leadership Intern, you will work closely with the Senior Manager of Higher Education, Director of K-12 Initiatives, and Senior Manager, Higher Education. The internship is remote, offering a stipend of $1,250 per month, and runs from September 15th to December 5th, 2025, requiring a minimum of 20 hours per week. Interns will facilitate student groups, provide technical support, manage administrative tasks, and contribute to creating supplemental materials. This is a valuable opportunity to gain nonprofit experience and make a difference in mental health advocacy.

Requirements

  • Interest in mental health focused youth leadership programming for both K-12 and Higher Education
  • Has either attended or is currently attending a college or university
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Strong leadership and facilitation skills
  • Strong public speaking skills
  • Strong time and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability of working in teams under deadlines
  • Ability to react with appropriate levels of urgency to situations and events that require quick response or turnaround
  • Knowledge of Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Zoom, and Dropbox

Responsibilities

  • Support the Mental Health Advocacy Institute for college students and Academy and Regional Summits for high school students
  • Facilitate groups of students in the different youth leadership programs while they complete a variety of interactive activities, discussions and reflections
  • Provide one on one technical support to students in the youth leadership programs as they craft mental health advocacy action plans and campaigns
  • Support youth leadership program administrative tasks such as sending out mass communications and keeping track of participant information
  • Assist in the creation of supplemental materials for the youth leadership programs including but not limited to videos, worksheets, activities, etc

Preferred Qualifications

Experience serving in student leadership rolesΒ  in high school or in college, but preferability in both settings

Benefits

  • Active Minds pays interns a stipend of $1,250 per month
  • All Fall 2025 internships will be remote with an anticipated start date of September 15th, 2025 and end date of December 5th, 2025
  • We expect interns to work a minimum of 20 hours a week, set a consistent work schedule between 9:00am and 5:00pm EST Monday - Friday, and commit to staying on board for the entire semester
