Summary

Join Rackspace Technology as a technical leader, designing, automating, and deploying self-healing services on AWS. You will collaborate with customer teams, lead technical discussions with IT executives, and architect scalable, cloud-native applications using AWS services like API Gateway, Lambda, and DynamoDB. Leverage serverless, container, and microservices technologies, migrating monolithic applications to microservices architectures. Advise on AWS best practices and influence infrastructure architecture. This role requires 50% travel, alternating between onsite work in Houston, TX and remote work.

Requirements

  • BS level technical degree
  • Additional experience may substitute the for the degree
  • 8 + years of software development or application engineering with recent coding experience in two or more modern programing languages such as: Java, JavaScript, C/C++, C#, Swift, Node.js , Python, Go, or Ruby
  • Hands-on recent development experience and capability. You will be expected to write and review code
  • 5+ years of experience as a technical specialist in Customer-facing roles
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)

Responsibilities

  • Work as a technical leader alongside customer business, development, and infrastructure teams
  • Lead technical and design discussions with IT executives to help enterprises speed their adoption of new technologies and practices
  • Architect and build highly scalable, cloud-native applications on the AWS platform using core developer services such as: API Gateway, Lambda, SQS, DynamoDB and ECS
  • Leverage new technology paradigms (e.g., serverless, containers, microservices)
  • Migrate monolithic applications to microservices architectures
  • Advise on implementing AWS best practices
  • Influence infrastructure architecture by sharing your application development expertise
  • Willingness to travel to client locations and deliver professional services

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cloud Certifications
  • Demonstrated success as a software developer, application architect, product manager, CTO, or consultant working with various platforms
  • Architecting, designing and developing applications on the AWS platform
  • Designing and building application using Container and serverless technologies
  • Experience architecting highly available systems that utilize load balancing, horizontal scalability and high availability
  • Good exposure to Agile software development and DevOps practices such as Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Continuous Integration and automated deployment
  • Continuous Integration (CI) tools (e.g. Jenkins)
  • Experience with configuration management platforms (e.g. Chef, Puppet, Salt, or Ansible)
  • Strong practical application development experience on Linux and Windows-based systems
  • Presenting at public events such as technology conferences, hackathons, blogging, writing on technical forums, etc
  • Experience working directly with customers, partners or third-party developers

Benefits

  • The anticipated starting pay range for Colorado is: $143,700 - $210,760
  • The anticipated starting pay range for the states of Hawaii and New York (not including NYC) is: $153,000 - $224,400
  • The anticipated starting pay range for California, New York City and Washington is: $167,400 - $245,520
  • Unless already included in the posted pay range and based on eligibility, the role may include variable compensation in the form of bonus, commissions, or other discretionary payments
