Assistant Compliance Officer

Summary

The job is for a Compliance Officer at Binance Japan, responsible for supporting the compliance officer, handling regulatory inquiries, producing reports, and updating internal policies. The candidate should have 8-12 years of experience in Compliance or Legal from a financial institution, knowledge of Japanese law and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• 8-12 years experience in Compliance and/or Legal from a financial institution (experience in the fintech or blockchain industry will be an advantage)
• Experience with all areas of Compliance (KYC/B, EDD, SAR/STR, etc)
• Ability to keep up-to-date on all applicable Japanese laws and regulations, as well as international rules that may affect our operations
• Knowledge of Japanese law and regulatory standards
• Experience with tools related to Compliance (Name screening, Transaction monitoring, etc)
• Ability to work as part of a team as well as execute independently on all compliance and legal matters
• Fluency in Japanese and English, both written and spoken

Responsibilities

• Support the compliance officer (CO) of Binance Japan and conduct regulatory compliance activities
• Be a project manager for inquiries from local/global regulators and LEs
• Produce periodic reports on compliance activities to the CO and board of directors
• Handle internal escalations regarding KYC/KYB, sanction screening processes, and marketing campaign materials
• Update internal policies and rules in response to changes in applicable laws and regulations
• Support documentation for new license applications
• Handle legal cases with the support of internal/external counsels
• Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develop corrective action plans for resolution
