Requirements
- A strong understanding of drug discovery, including typical workflows, experiments, and tools, as demonstrated through a combination of previous hands-on experience in a discovery organization, and a life sciences PhD
- Experience planning and executing commercial assessments based on primary and secondary research for pre-clinical and early clinical (P1-P2) assets
- The ability to digest complex biological concepts, and distill credible and clear recommendations to a broad set of senior stakeholders
- The ability to interpret clinical data and communicate key insights relevant to our internal programs
- Familiarity with life sciences industry trends in R&D and commercialization (e.g. emerging technologies and drug targets)
- PhD in a relevant Life Sciences discipline (e.g. biology, biochemistry / molecular biology, pharmacology, etc.)
- At least 6 years of professional experience, with 4 years in a New Product Planning / Marketing role within a pharmaceutical or biotech company, a biotech venture capital firm, or a strategy consulting firm that provides services to life sciences companies
- Experience with typical tools, data sources, and market research methods used in biopharma commercial planning
- Strong Excel modeling and Powerpoint skills
- Excellent communication, listening and strong presentation skills
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, if required, approximately 10% of the time - potentially more if working remotely
Responsibilities
- Guide program strategy and decision-making at all stages of discovery and clinical development
- Support portfolio strategy and analytics initiatives to enable prioritization & resource allocation
- Drive cross-functional new target nomination process, ensuring a thorough evaluation of strategic, scientific, and commercial considerations
- Steward technical diligence of new targets through conducting literature reviews and moderating KOL interviews
- Proactively identify and pursue opportunities for providing commercial input to improve strategy and decision making
- Conduct primary and secondary research to assess the commercial attractiveness of new preclinical product opportunities including market sizing, target product profile development, and competitive assessment
- Maintain highly detailed tracking of preclinical and clinical competitive programs
- Sit on Genesisβ preclinical and early clinical stage development teams as the commercial representative and provide expert guidance to the team on commercial and market considerations
- Support the implementation and improvement of processes, capabilities, and templates to augment the NPP teamβs impact, e.g. disease opportunity assessment templates, TPP templates, competitive tracking alerts, etc
- Provide commercial support to Business Development and Corporate Strategy initiatives
- Closely collaborate with our Program Management, Finance and FP&A teams to support detailed planning and budgeting
