Summary

The Associate Merchant will analyze product performance, identify trends, communicate product strategies, research the competitive landscape, manage open to buy, develop and present lineplans, partner with design and production teams, and track SKU-level sales, inventory, and outstanding orders. The ideal candidate has 2-4 years of Merchant/Buying experience, strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills, a proven ability to lead cross-functional efforts, and a deep understanding of the Reformation customer.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of Merchant / Buying experience at a retailer / e-commerce company
  • Proven business and strategic acumen
  • Analytical and Math Skills specific to merchandise planning
  • Knowledge of OTB management and financial modeling
  • Strong Excel Knowledge
  • Eye for product trend
  • Attention to detail
  • Can-do, positive attitude
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Analyze product performance weekly and identify key trends and opportunities that drive sales and buyer acquisition
  • Identify what doesn’t work for our customer and action upcoming product plans as needed
  • Analyze seasonal assortment of products within your category (what works, what doesn’t), use the data to create a strategy for future seasons and provide actionable recommendations
  • Communicate product strategies to ensure all cross functional teams are aware of on-going launches and courses of action
  • Research and assess the competitive landscape to inform product strategy and provide insight into market opportunities
  • Harbor a deep understanding of our current and evolving core customer base as well as the market
  • Partner with Planning to closely manage the open to buy
  • Identify and implement new initiatives to optimize weekly sales and margins
  • Develop and present monthly and seasonal lineplans
  • Partner with design to develop cohesive monthly product assortment plans
  • Partner with design to identify and develop new product opportunities that will be true to the Ref aesthetic while also bringing in a new customer
  • Partner closely with production and supply chain to prioritize business needs
  • Partner closely with Ecomm and Marketing teams to coordinate product launches, Newsletter, Waitlist, Site Merchandising and Preorder Strategy
  • Track SKU-level sales, inventory and outstanding orders on a daily basis, making adjustments to hit sales & inventory targets
  • Identify and improve workflow opportunities

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in Women’s Apparel is a plus!
