Summary

Join Sterlington, an international law firm, as their Attorney Professional Development Lead! This remote, full-time independent contractor position requires 40 hours per week, partly aligned with US EST time. Compensation is experience and location-based. You will collaborate with partners and senior stakeholders on continued legal education (CLE) for fee-earners, manage associate relations, and contribute to workforce planning and performance reviews. The role involves tracking attorney productivity, implementing performance evaluations, identifying training needs, and designing onboarding programs. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the professional development of attorneys within a dynamic international law firm.

Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of experience collaborating with partners and senior professional services stakeholders within a law firm environment; applicants may have previously worked within a campus recruitment & development role
  • Possess a Coaching or L&D qualification
  • Have 8 years of experience working within a professional services environment (law firm preferred)
  • Be able to review, interpret, and present datasets for management information packs (strong Excel; PowerPoint and Officer365 skills)
  • Be able to prioritize multiple responsibilities, and exercise good judgment
  • Demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Be detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, oral/written communication skills
  • Handle confidential material with discretion

Responsibilities

  • Track, analyze, and report on attorney productivity, availability, utilization, and professional development
  • Provide partner teams with regular data on attorney utilization and availability to maximize the effectiveness of resourcing planning
  • Log and oversee associates’ CLE to maximize the variety of work, exposure to different partners, ensuring their development of new, core skills
  • Implement a performance evaluation process for associates
  • Track and facilitate the realization of Professional Development Priorities identified during review processes
  • Work with practice leaders to identify training needs and skill gaps across the fee-earner teams and organize appropriate training programs to address those needs
  • Collaborate with HR colleagues to design and roll-out a new associate onboarding and orientation program

Preferred Qualifications

8 years of experience working within a professional services environment (law firm preferred)
