Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree or equivalent experience in real estate, law, or a related field
- 3β5 years of experience in title insurance underwriting or a related role
- Strong understanding of title insurance principles, real estate law, and underwriting guidelines, particularly in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Missouri, Indiana, Kentucky, and/or Texas
- Familiarity with assignment contracts, transactional funding, double closings, title abstracts and chain of title, legal descriptions, surveys, lien searches, property taxes, probate, bankruptcy documents, commitments, endorsements, and title policies
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
- Review title searches, public records, and legal documents to identify defects, liens, or encumbrances
- Analyze title documentation and determine insurability of properties
- Draft and issue title commitments, policies, and endorsements
- Resolve title issues through communication with attorneys, escrow officers, agents, and other parties
- Manage external relationships with law firms and underwriters
- Apply underwriting standards and guidelines to assess risk and make decisions accordingly
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and clients to address concerns or clarify requirements
- Stay updated on applicable laws, regulations, and industry best practices
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with internal quality standards
