Requirements

• Strong experience architecting solutions in Amazon Web Services (AWS), including design, build, and deployment of cloud infrastructure
• Demonstrated experience in delivering scalable and secure cloud-based architectures, including compute, storage, networking, and IAM
• Experience in supporting cloud migration strategies and transitioning systems to AWS
• A proven understanding of AWS best practices, tools, and services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, CloudFormation, etc.)
• Experience working with agile methodologies and delivering solutions within a collaborative environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to innovate and optimise solutions
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of AWS cloud-based infrastructure and services within the Artificial Intelligence team
• Provide architectural guidance and technical leadership to ensure alignment with best practices, security standards, and organisational goals
• Collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, and third-party vendors to deliver high-quality AWS solutions
• Oversee the creation and documentation of cloud architecture designs, infrastructure roadmaps, and technical specifications
• Identify opportunities for innovation and optimisation within existing cloud infrastructure
• Ensure AWS solutions are cost-effective, scalable, secure, and compliant with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards
• Support the development of cloud governance frameworks and maintain operational excellence
• Provide mentorship and technical direction to teams implementing cloud solutions

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional/Associate)
• Knowledge of Government Digital Service (GDS) principles and standards
• Experience in working within a UK Government or public sector environment
• Familiarity with other cloud platforms or multi-cloud solutions
