Summary

Join our dynamic team as a Bilingual Translator (French-English/English-French) for a part-time, temporary position with The Kaizen Company, working remotely on the Wadata project in Niger. You will translate various documents, ensuring accuracy and adherence to organizational standards. This role requires a Bachelor's degree, 5+ years of translation experience (preferably in international development), native-level fluency in both French and English, and proficiency in translation software. The project runs from February 1 to May 30, 2025. You will collaborate with project teams and ensure quality and consistency in translations. The position reports to the Strategic Learning Lead.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional translation experience, preferably in the international development sector
  • Native-level fluency in French and English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages
  • Proficiency in translation software and CAT tools
  • Strong understanding of cultural nuances and ability to translate in a culturally sensitive manner
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion

Responsibilities

  • Translate a wide range of documents, including technical reports, policy briefs, project proposals, and communication materials from English to French and vice versa
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure that all translated content maintains the correct technical terminology and adheres to organizational standards
  • Review, proofread, and edit translations done by external contractors to ensure quality and consistency
  • Manage translation projects, including coordinating with other team members and meeting tight deadlines
