Join Natera's Bioinformatics Research Team as a Lead/Staff Bioinformatics Scientist, contributing to the development of innovative algorithms and machine learning models for cancer detection. This hybrid/remote position (US-based) requires a strong background in algorithm development, genomics, sequencing data processing, and applied machine learning. You will lead algorithm and machine learning model development projects, collaborate with biologists and clinical scientists, and mentor other scientists. The ideal candidate possesses a PhD in a relevant field and 6-10 years of experience in bioinformatics, including algorithm development, data analysis, and machine learning. Requirements
- PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field with a strong focus on cancer epi/genomics
- Minimum of 6-10 years of experience working in the bioinformatics field, including algorithm development, data analysis, and machine learning
- Deep understanding of sequencing data
- Familiar with public databases such as TCGA, COSMIC, or OncoKB
- Experience in Python
- Experience using Linux command-line tools and writing shell scripts
- Ability to visualize findings and summarize results in oral and written form for both technical and non-technical audiences
- High scientific rigor and eager to teach and learn about new computational methods and biology
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and validate innovative algorithms and statistical methods to analyze large-scale data sets related to cancer detection
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellence
- Work closely with molecular biologists and clinical scientists to solve challenging problems
- Contribute to experimental design and ensure data integrity and quality control
- Act as technical lead during various phases of research and product development
- Mentor and train other bioinformatics scientists
