Summary

Join Seqera's Customer Experience team as a Bioinformatics Support Engineer and become a trusted technical partner to researchers in health and life sciences. This role offers recent graduates or early-career bioinformaticians a chance to jumpstart their careers in production bioinformatics and scientific computing. You will engage directly with customers, troubleshoot issues, support Nextflow-based workflows, build product expertise, collaborate with senior team members, contribute to documentation, and provide customer feedback. This position requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field, familiarity with Nextflow or similar systems, experience with bioinformatics pipelines, Linux command-line proficiency, and strong communication skills. The role involves serving as the primary support contact for West Coast customers. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Familiarity with Nextflow and/or other workflow management systems (e.g., Snakemake, WDL)
  • Experience writing, running, or modifying bioinformatics pipelines in an academic or professional setting
  • Comfortable working in a Linux command-line environment and with scripting languages such as Bash or Python
  • Curious and eager to learn more about cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Strong communication skills - able to explain technical concepts to a range of users
  • Enjoys solving problems, helping others, and being part of a collaborative team
  • You will serve as the primary support contact for our West Coast customers ( Mountain timezone hours )

Responsibilities

  • Engage directly with customers to troubleshoot and resolve issues across the Seqera ecosystem, including infrastructure, pipelines, and third-party tools
  • Support users running Nextflow-based workflows, including both nf-core and custom pipelines
  • Build deep product and Nextflow expertise to understand life sciences workflows and deliver effective, scalable solutions
  • Collaborate with senior support and bioinformatics team members to triage, escalate, and resolve complex technical challenges
  • Contribute to and maintain technical documentation and knowledge articles to support both internal teams and customers
  • Act as the voice of the customer, providing actionable feedback to product and engineering teams to help shape product direction

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to sequencing technologies (e.g., RNA-seq, ATAC-seq) or common bioinformatics tools
  • Experience using Git/GitHub for code management
  • Familiarity with how HPC schedulers (e.g., Slurm) or cloud batch systems work
  • Research experience in a computational or technical role
