
Body Design & Release Engineer

You will be responsible for the engineering, design, development, timing, and production release of automotive body components. This role involves working on various body parts, from initial design to full production. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and 3-5 years of relevant experience. Experience with CAD software (Unigraphics NX, Catia V5, Teamcenter), high-strength steels/aluminum forming, and DFMEA/DVP&R is essential. The ideal candidate will also possess knowledge of composites, EMC/ESD design, and Six Sigma. Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 3-5 yrs of engineering automotive component experience designing and developing on the following: BIW Components (Componentes de Body in White)
- CAD experience with Unigraphics NX, Catia V5 and Teamcenter in a production release environment Body in White
- Knowledgeable regarding high strength steels/ aluminum forming processes, weld parameters and GD&T
- Experience with OEM or supplier on design and release
- Experience/knowledge with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R) and validation plans
- Knowledge and experience with composites and composite production processes
- Working knowledge of designing for EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) design/prevention
- BIW in-plant launch experience
- Experience designing and developing injection molding, painting, and decorating plastic Class A components
- Excellent MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
- English intermediate/advanced
- Possibility of traveling, valid passport, and visa preferable
Responsibilities
- Develop engineering, design, and development for Body-in-white / Body closure sheet metal and hinging / Fascia/bumper / Underbody shield and Wheel liners / Cladding & flares / Body exterior (moldings, badges, decals and vents) / Front Lighting / EE & Signal Lighting / Fixed Glass/ Wipers /Fuel Door components /systems from initial design concept through full volume production
- Design and develop BIW Components (Componentes de Body in White)
- Design Main Structural Components: Floor panel, Side panels, Roof panel, A, B, and C pillars, Front and rear subframes, Frame / Rail system
- Design and develop Movable Parts (Before Final Assembly): Doors, Hood, Trunk lid / Tailgate
- Design and develop Joints and Supports: Suspension mounts, Structural reinforcements, Crash energy absorption parts, Crossmembers
- Design and develop BIW using CAD software
- Create and edit BoMβs
- Release Mechanical and electrical components
- Lead technical teams successfully across varied levels of management and between OEM and supply base
- Regularly present to upper management for issue resolution decisions
Preferred Qualifications
- CATIA V5 knowledge
- Knowledge of Casting and Injection Molding processes
- Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and/or Reactive Green/Black Belt
- CAE/Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) knowledge
- Knowledge or experience of CAN/LIN bus and circuit analysis
- Prior exposure to automotive lighting specifications and standards
