Reporting to the Director of Operational Governance, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and testing the business continuity program for the Architecture, Product, & Technology organization. This involves creating plans for business process and technology continuation, managing incidents, and collaborating with departmental leaders. You will evaluate existing strategies, manage change, monitor emergencies, and establish disaster recovery methodologies. The role requires strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills, along with experience in business continuity planning and relevant software tools. Requirements
- 5+ years of related experience in design, development, and improvement of strategy and business continuity planning. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of industry BCP standards, information security practices, and experience in implementing multiple risk mitigation approaches
- Professional certification from the Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRII) or The Business Continuity Institute (BCI) (e.g., Certified Business Continuity Professional – CBCP) and/or related certifications or Education
- Experience with business continuity software tools such as Fusion Risk Management System and AlertMedia Notification System
- Understanding of business continuity, disaster recovery, crisis management, information security, and Cyber Security
- Organized, motivated, self-starter
- Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Smartsheet, SharePoint, and Salesforce
- Experience in leading successful negotiations with business teams
Responsibilities
- Assist in evaluating business unit plans to identify threats, hazards, and potential impacts to critical business priorities
- Develop living strategies for mitigation, continuity, and recovery
- Maintain uninterrupted service whenever possible, and when needed, coordinate recovery from business disruptions in a safe manner and as rapidly as possible
- Enable continuous improvement by systematically reviewing program strategy and performance using all available tools and software
- Evaluate the existing business continuity and disaster recovery (DR) strategies and plans for the departments to identify any risks and make recommendations to improve and strengthen the strategies and plans
- Manage change and understand the cultural dynamics of the organization, using this knowledge to ensure that the organization's business continuity strategy and plans evolve in a practical way as the business itself changes
- Continually evaluate the impact of third-party business partner operations on our overall business resilience and continuity needs
- Monitor developing emergencies potentially affecting Brightspeed’s operations and/or customers and, in coordination with appropriate department leaders, advise management on response strategies
- Establish disaster recovery testing methodologies and scenarios to validate whether recovery procedures are effective for the restoration of key corporate resources and the resumption of critical business processes
- Coordinate periodic DR parallel exercises and conduct a yearly DR tabletop simulation exercise
- Design and prepare periodic business continuity and disaster recovery reports and presentations
- Assist with the business impact analysis process to assist all departments in determining critical business processes
- A self-starter who can achieve other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience; a bachelor’s degree in BCM is most desired
- 8+ years of directly relevant Telecommunications BCM work experience, working with all levels in the corporation
- 5+ years of people leadership and management experience, including evaluating team performance and making improvements
- Proven track record of success within the BCM environment
- Ability to achieve results in a complex, distributed organization
- Ability to manage many different initiatives at one time while focusing on success
