Summary

Join High Alpha Innovation as a Business Development Manager and play an important role in the business development process. In this role, you will support the Partnerships Team by creating a pipeline of leads and opportunities, tracking and managing information, and ensuring timely follow through to ensure forward progress of priority business development activities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years experience in venture capital, accelerators, corporate innovation, venture studio, or management consulting with exposure to business development in the venture capital space
  • Demonstrated success in managing partner relationships with senior level leaders in large corporations including executing agreements
  • Intellectual horsepower needed to think across industries & technology market to identify the highest-value opportunities
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex business ideas to different audiences, in addition to listening and modifying your thinking based on the contributions and perspectives of others
  • Outstanding communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to adapt style based on audience
  • Avid reader and consumer of industry content ranging from social media and conference talks to books on relevant topics
  • Knowledge and application of buyer and customer journey stages and personas, and demand generation strategy
  • Ability to create narratives that engage prospects and customers in the business development conversation

Responsibilities

  • Partner with SVP of Partnerships and others to create a pipeline of opportunities
  • Conduct and summarize research on new and prospective partners, competitive intelligence, and market considerations
  • Attend business development meetings and facilitate followup activities
  • Shape value propositions for new partners
  • Ensure the full breadth of experience, perspective and solution set is considered and leveraged as part of new business proposals and pitch opportunities
  • Orchestrate the contracting workstream along with the SVP of Partnerships
  • Engage the legal team as a valued partner to review contracts and proactively identify risk
  • Solicit input from the SVP of Partnerships and Chief Financial Officer regarding financial goals and pricing guidelines are applied to each deal
  • Partner with the Marketing team to ensure business development decks and materials are created, maintained and consistently used
  • Partner with the Marketing team to create lead generation events and opportunities
  • Lead, and contribute to, weekly pipeline meetings and reporting
  • Ensure exceptional data hygiene and up to date partner data in the CRM system (Copper)
  • Partner with SVP of Partnerships and Partnerships team on revenue forecasting, pipeline metrics and relevant dashboards
  • Develop, implement, and manage systems and processes to gather, track, measure, and report on results of business development initiatives
