Construction Assistant Project Manager

Summary

Join Canva's Space Creation Team as an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to deliver high-performance workplace construction projects. This 6-month, full-time contract role allows for remote work from various locations. You will manage commercial fit-outs and new office spaces, reflecting Canva's brand and culture. The ideal candidate has experience in project coordination, contract administration, and construction project management, preferably from the client or contractor side. You'll collaborate with internal stakeholders, contractors, and consultants throughout the project lifecycle. This role offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment and opportunities for professional growth.

Requirements

• Have experience in project coordination, contract administration, or assistant project management within the construction or commercial fit-out industry
• Have experience from client-side or contractor-side
• Have demonstrated ability to deliver projects in occupied workplace environments
• Have familiarity with construction contract frameworks including AS 4905, AS 4915, AS 4000
• Have proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, and construction management platforms such as Procore and Aconex
• Have excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Have a proactive mindset with strong attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills
• Have a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial fit-outs and new office spaces that reflect Canva’s unique brand and workplace culture
• Gain hands-on experience delivering high-impact workplace projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, balancing design intent with operational needs
• Develop strong cross-functional collaboration skills by working closely with internal stakeholders, contractors, and consultants across all stages of the project lifecycle
• Build deep knowledge of end-to-end project delivery, from feasibility and procurement through to construction, handover, and post-occupancy review
