Summary

Join a fast-paced Canadian construction company as a Construction Project Coordinator. Manage simultaneous projects, coordinate tasks between local and offshore teams, and collaborate closely with the Project Manager. Key responsibilities include hosting client meetings, managing subcontractor contracts, supervising engineers, and maintaining project dashboards. The role requires regular collaboration with various teams and fostering team engagement. This is a full-time, remote position working Pacific Time, requiring strong communication, problem-solving, and technical skills. The ideal candidate will have a degree in a related field and at least 5 years of relevant experience.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying or a related technical field from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Project Coordination or Project Management on large steel or concrete building projects
  • Must have experience with the following software: Outlook, Word, Excel, Planner, MS Project and Teams
  • Clean and clear English and effective communication (via phone, video calling and email) is critical to interact with local Canadian teammates, clients and suppliers
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. Stays calm and rational under pressure
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of various types of construction contracts (eg: lump sum, time & materials, cost plus). Ability to read and understand contract language and apply/enforce the terms of the contract as they relate to clients, suppliers, and/or subcontractors
  • Understanding of project QC requirements including the development and implementation of ITP’s, inspections, etc
  • Strong knowledge of current construction types and costs (what is considered a good price for specified building components and scopes of work) and different construction contracts
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Technically savvy and up to date with most current software, industry practices, etc. Ability to learn how to use new software quickly and efficiently

Responsibilities

  • Assist with construction projects, including liaison with Owners, Consulting Engineers and Subcontractors
  • Monitor cost accruals and reviews with the Project Manager on a regular basis
  • Support with the preparation and execution of overall work plan and schedule
  • Review and monitor actual construction vs. schedule. Identify critical path and stay ahead of manpower and material deliveries
  • Control drawings, drawing records and revisions
  • Control site instructions, RFI’s and Change Orders
  • Review and process shop drawings
  • Coordination of material and equipment needs
  • Prepare cost estimates for change orders and change notices
  • Assist with maintain QA/QC documentation and records of all testing and inspections
  • Provide document turnover to client at completion of the project
  • Assist with maintenance of project files and preparation of reports
  • Participate in on-site safety meetings and be a leader for safety to ensure everyone goes home healthy
  • Foster and maintain positive relations and communication with clients, architects and subcontractors
  • Estimate new project scopes where necessary
  • Plan, quote and track change orders for any work outside of the contracted scope
  • Maintain an ongoing Vendor Matrix & Lessons Learned log for each active project
  • Develop and maintain project schedules when necessary
  • Organize and maintain all project documents according to established company process
  • Maintain active site presence when necessary
  • Report to Senior Project Manager or Project Director on larger projects involving multiple PMs
  • Mentor upcoming employees: Project Coordinators, etc
  • Protect the company’s interests both legally and financially with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients. Ensure that projects are completed, and the company is paid without the need for the involvement of legal counsel

Preferred Qualifications

PMP designation or other project management related course completed is advantageous
