Summary
Join Equality Now and the Southern African Development Community Parliamentary Forum (SADC PF) as a Consultant to develop a policy brief on the domestication of the SADC Model Law on Gender-Based Violence (GBV), focusing on Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV). This remote consultancy, reporting to the End Sexual Exploitation Team, requires expertise in GBV, sexual exploitation, and the SADC Model Law. The policy brief will analyze TFGBV and trafficking for sexual exploitation in the SADC region, examine relevant legal provisions, identify policy gaps, and offer recommendations for strengthening the Model Law's domestication and implementation. The consultant will conduct research, develop a draft policy brief, and finalize it based on feedback. The project is expected to be completed within two months, with a total budget of USD 3,750.
Requirements
- Advanced university degree in law, human rights, and/or womenโs rights
- A minimum of 5 years of experience working directly on womenโs rights, preferably in the SADC region
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience on GBV, sexual exploitation, and/or trafficking for sexual exploitation issues in the SADC region and of the SADC Model Law on gender-based violence
- Excellent writing and analytical skills
Responsibilities
- Develop and submit a concise inception report and plan to Equality Now and SADC PF that includes proposed methodology, layout, and division of topics for the policy brief
- Research on regional and national issues relating to TFGBV and trafficking for sexual exploitation, as highlighted above, as well as analysis of the legislative approaches in the SADC region
- Develop a draft policy brief
- Finalize the policy brief based on Equality Now and SADC PF feedback
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in English and knowledge of French and/or Portuguese is desirable
