Summary

Join Last Mile Health's Learning and Evidence Consultancy as a consultant to conduct topic-specific literature reviews aligned with their Learning Agenda and Evidence Base. The goal is to consolidate existing internal and external knowledge on priority topics and generate actionable takeaways for program design, strategy, and adaptive decision-making. This work will directly contribute to LMH's evidence base by filling knowledge gaps and aligning with strategic learning themes. Working with the Managing Director of the GMERL team and a core Working Group, the Consultant will receive direct support and have the opportunity to work autonomously. The consultancy is for 10 days (80 hours) with an estimated fee of $8,000 and is remote (preferred time zone is USA, EST). The consultant will participate in at least one review meeting and produce a two-page synthesis brief.

Requirements

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in public health, international development, research or related field
  • Progressive years of experience in MERL for international development organizations, with an emphasis on research, evaluation, and learning
  • Experience working in global public health
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing organizational initiatives involving communications, process, and tool development (e.g., behavior change, policy roll-out, etc.)
  • Excellent computer skills, including the development of technical and non-technical materials and documents
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels of technical and non-technical management and with other stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Conduct topic-specific literature reviews aligned with the Learning Agenda and Evidence Base
  • Consolidate existing internal and external knowledge on priority topics
  • Generate clear, actionable takeaways to inform program design, strategy, and adaptive decision-making
  • Contribute to LMHโ€™s evidence base by filling identified gaps in knowledge and aligning with broader strategic learning themes
  • Work with the Managing Director of the Global Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (GMERL) team and a core Working Group of country and global team representatives
  • Provide support in exercises and work autonomously and creatively in issues of method, process, tool development, documentation, and development of data-use and learning practices for the organization
  • Submit a draft annotated bibliography or summary of findings to LMH for review
  • Participate in a short review call with LMHโ€™s internal technical leads from Global Monitoring Evaluation Research and Learning and Health Systems Strengthening to validate the relevance and completeness of the literature reviewed
  • Produce a 2-page synthesis brief, including Key takeaways, Implications for LMHโ€™s work, Recommendations for LMH opportunities, and suggested studies

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree preferred
