Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

Responsibilities

  • Collect and report financial data in compliance with GAAP
  • Oversee timely and efficient monthly and annual financial close
  • Oversee payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable as well as billing and collections
  • Ensure revenue recognition and sales contracts comply with ASC 606 accounting standard
  • Establish, monitor and enforce policies and procedures
  • Establish, monitor and enforce internal controls to protect assets
  • Manage banking relationships, maximizing return, and limiting risk, on cash
  • Ensure smooth and accurate processing of all business transactions: payroll, AR, AP, equity, etc
  • Manage auditor relationships and ensure smooth annual audit process
  • Work with external legal counsel to advise business on commercial contracts
  • Handle insurance and risk management policies
  • Select and maintain financial software
  • Own tax compliance and develop proactive tax strategies
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements
  • Ensure timely and accurate administration of equity compensation transactions and complete periodic equity valuation analyses
  • Contribute to the broader organization, designing processes where needed
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with BenchPrep policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training employees, assigning and directing work, performance reviews rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Big 4 public accounting experience and public market exposure
  • Experience with SaaS business model and in particular subscription-based revenue recognition
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead high performing teams
  • Experience with complex technical accounting matters
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
