Join Coconut Software as a Controller and play a key role in maintaining the company's financial integrity. You will oversee financial reporting, ensuring compliance with Canadian accounting standards, manage a team of financial professionals, and implement robust internal controls. Responsibilities include managing accounts payable and receivable, treasury, and payroll, as well as overseeing cash flow and conducting audits. This leadership role requires a CPA designation, 7+ years of finance and accounting experience (3+ years in management), and a strong understanding of ASPE. You will provide strategic financial guidance to support the company's growth and long-term sustainability. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

• CPA designation
• Minimum of 7+ years of experience in finance and accounting, with at least 3 years in a management role
• Proven track record of managing financial reporting and compliance in a high-growth, fast-paced environment
• Strong understanding of ASPE and financial accounting principles
• Strong attention to detail, with a high degree of accuracy and reliability in financial reporting & analysis
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Proven ability to communicate complex financial concepts in a clear and concise manner to non-financial stakeholders
• Ability to lead and develop a high-performing team while managing multiple priorities
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships across all levels of the organization

Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation and accuracy of the company’s financial statements, ensuring compliance with Canadian accounting standards for private enterprises (ASPE) and other regulatory requirements
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes
• Review and approve financial reports, variance analysis, and management presentations
• Lead and mentor a team of two (2) financial professionals to ensure accuracy, completeness & integrity of financial information
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, payroll, & other GL functions
• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy in financial reporting
• Ensure timely and accurate filing of financial statements, tax returns, SRED claims, IRAP, and other statutory filings and grants
• Manage external audits and collaborate with auditors to ensure compliance with all regulations and internal policies
• Oversee cash flow forecasting and liquidity management to support operations and strategic goals
• Monitor working capital to ensure optimal cash management and profitability
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in accounting systems, tools, and processes to increase efficiency and scalability
• Evaluate and implement software solutions to streamline accounting workflows, financial reporting & analytics
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership to support strategic planning and operational decision-making
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment between financial goals and overall business objectives
• Provide strategic insights & decision-making to support key initiatives including operational efficiency, pricing strategies & growth opportunities

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a SaaS or technology-focused company is strongly preferred
