Requirements
- CPA designation
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in finance and accounting, with at least 3 years in a management role
- Proven track record of managing financial reporting and compliance in a high-growth, fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of ASPE and financial accounting principles
- Strong attention to detail, with a high degree of accuracy and reliability in financial reporting & analysis
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Proven ability to communicate complex financial concepts in a clear and concise manner to non-financial stakeholders
- Ability to lead and develop a high-performing team while managing multiple priorities
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships across all levels of the organization
Responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation and accuracy of the company’s financial statements, ensuring compliance with Canadian accounting standards for private enterprises (ASPE) and other regulatory requirements
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes
- Review and approve financial reports, variance analysis, and management presentations
- Lead and mentor a team of two (2) financial professionals to ensure accuracy, completeness & integrity of financial information
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, payroll, & other GL functions
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy in financial reporting
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of financial statements, tax returns, SRED claims, IRAP, and other statutory filings and grants
- Manage external audits and collaborate with auditors to ensure compliance with all regulations and internal policies
- Oversee cash flow forecasting and liquidity management to support operations and strategic goals
- Monitor working capital to ensure optimal cash management and profitability
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in accounting systems, tools, and processes to increase efficiency and scalability
- Evaluate and implement software solutions to streamline accounting workflows, financial reporting & analytics
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership to support strategic planning and operational decision-making
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment between financial goals and overall business objectives
- Provide strategic insights & decision-making to support key initiatives including operational efficiency, pricing strategies & growth opportunities
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a SaaS or technology-focused company is strongly preferred
