Summary
Join Opal Group as their Controller, leading the finance department and overseeing all financial aspects of this international events company. This remote, full-time position requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, 7+ years of progressive experience (including 3+ years in a leadership role), and expertise in international accounting and US practices. You will develop and implement financial strategies, manage the accounting team, ensure compliance, and provide financial reporting and analysis to senior leadership. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills, along with proficiency in accounting software and Excel. A CPA or CMA certification is highly preferred.
Requirements
- Possess a Bachelorโs Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Have 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Possess experience in international accounting and U.S. practices
- Demonstrate proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire teams to achieve organizational goals
- Possess expertise in financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Have exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly
- Have advanced proficiency in accounting software, Excel (up to VBA), and financial management systems
- Possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to develop strategic solutions to complex financial challenges
- Demonstrate a high level of accuracy and thoroughness in all financial operations
- Have the ability to thrive in a remote work environment with strong organizational and time-management skills
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the companyโs financial strategy, aligning with organizational objectives and growth goals
- Oversee the preparation of detailed financial reports and present findings and recommendations to senior leadership
- Supervise and ensure the accuracy of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions
- Lead the budgeting process and provide accurate forecasting to guide financial planning and decision-making
- Ensure adherence to financial laws, regulations, and internal policies while identifying and mitigating financial risks
- Manage and mentor the Accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment
- Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure financial stability and liquidity
- Lead internal and external audit processes, ensuring compliance and transparency
- Oversee the use of financial systems, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to streamline operations
- Collaborate with internal departments, external partners, and stakeholders to align financial operations with organizational goals
- Develop and enforce financial policies and procedures to ensure operational efficiency and accountability
Preferred Qualifications
- Possess CPA or CMA certification
- Have familiarity with the unique financial needs of the conference, events, or hospitality industries
- Have experience with CRM reporting tools and GPT technology
