Requirements

  • 8-12+ years of experience, with at least 3-5 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role
  • Deep understanding of GAAP, particularly ASC 606 revenue recognition for SaaS
  • Strong experience with month-end/quarter-end close processes and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in implementing and optimizing financial systems (ERP, billing systems, AP systems
  • Experience managing and mentoring a small finance team
  • Strong technical accounting skills, including preparation of audit-ready financial statements
  • Experience with sales tax, income tax, and other compliance requirements for a growing SaaS company
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Proactive and takes ownership of processes and outcomes, identifying inefficiencies and proposing scalable solutions
  • Adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Strong ethical compass and commitment to financial integrity
  • Experience managing revenue schedules for multiple products or unique deal structures (e.g., 2-3 year deals with varied invoicing schedules) for enterprise customers

Responsibilities

  • Lead and optimize the month-end and quarter-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, specifically ASC 606 revenue recognition for multi-product SaaS, and prepare for external audits
  • Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team as the company grows
  • Drive the strategic direction of the accounting function by partnering with other teams such as Legal, Product, RevOps, Engineering, etc
  • Develop and maintain robust internal controls and policies to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity
  • Lead and improve our month-end process to ensure we are timely and accurately closing the books
  • Review our internal operations and prepare a project plan to get us audit-ready
  • Lead new initiatives to drive down our DSO and AR balance by XX%
